ORGANISORS of the Ag-Grow QMIX Working Horse Challenge have revamped the whole program this year to allow more competitors to attend.
According to one of the organizers Brenda Harth of the Clermont Performance Horse Club, the organizers are expecting up to 50 competitors, due to the event being held prior to the Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge.
“As well we have $7000 in total prizemoney to distribute to winners and the runners-up,” Brenda said.
Under the new program the event starts on Thursday, July 9 at 7.30am.
Competitors in the Open, Novice and Futurity will all compete in dry work followed by wet work.
From that competition scores will be compiled and the top 10 scoring competitors in theses classes will advance into the finals.
On Friday, the event will start at 8am and the finalists in the three sections (open, novice, and futurity) will all compete in the dry work, cutting and wet work.
A parade of stallions will be held during the event, and breeders are encouraged to take this opportunity to present them to a large audience.
For those participating in the Clermont Performance Horse Club’s “Half price stallion service sale” will be given preference in this parade.
Judges for this years’ will be Cameron Parker from Rockhampton, and Les Abdy of Springsure.
The cattle will be kindly donated by Charles McKinlay, Stewart Park, Comet.
Generous sponsorship has been given by Fosters, Deweld, Don Warriners Earthquip, CQ Saddlery, and Metalcorp.
