Better bulls for the Beef producers in Central Qld

QUEENSLAND”S Superior Beef Bull Sale at Ag-Grow 2009 has adopted the theme Better Bulls for Beef Breeders as its catalogue of 218 lots was released last week.

Twelve individual breeds are represented in the Two Day Sale. Angus (38 bulls), Red Angus (5), Gelbvieh (11), Red Brangus (11), Brangus (3), Simmental (15), Red Simmental (5), Shorthorn (9), Droughtmaster (11) and Santa Gertrudis (6) breeds will be sold on the first day of the Sale, Thursday 9th July commencing at 1:00pm. The following day, Friday 10th July at 11:00am, 83 Charolais and 21 Charbray bulls will be offered.

Sale Selling Agents Grant Daniel and Long, McCaffrey’s Australian Livestock Marketing and Ray White Studstock are delighted that the event has attracted the support of many Studs recognised as industry leaders in Australia.

“Ag-Grow has developed into a leading beef industry showcase and our policy in promoting high standards and quality beef performance through this Sale has been widely welcomed by cattle producers,” said Ken McCaffrey of McCaffrey’s Australian Livestock Marketing.

“Many of our sale vendors have built up a loyal clientele of progressive beef producers from Central and Northern cattle country areas who utilise this Sale as their preferred multi-breed market for high quality bulls.”

The Two Day format allows buyers ample time to inspect all the bulls they are interested in as well as to enjoy all the other features of the Ag-Grow Field Days.

Another feature of the Sale is that all bulls are offered without reserve.

“Buyers can bid with confidence as our vendors are genuine about meeting the market,” Mr McCaffrey said.

The success of the Sale has been built on the diversity of breed selection as many cattle producers look to secure good bulls to use in cross breeding programmes on the predominantly Bos Indicus based cow herds of Central and Northern areas.

According to Gary Greer, Stud Stock manager for Grant Daniel and Long many of the individual buyers in the past have bought drafts of six or seven different breeds to put over herds of single breed cows to optimise progeny performance.

All lots are pre-sale tick treated to aid movement for clean country buyers and a clearing inspection will be available at the Ag-Grow site.

Bull sale catalogues are available from McCaffrey’s Australian Livestock Marketing, Rockhampton (07) 4922 6311, Grant Daniel & Long, Dalby (07)4669 6955 and all branches and Ray White Studstock 0418-747274 and all branches.
