About QMIX

Queensland Mining and Industrial Expo

The QLD coal industry, which is dominated by large open cut mines in the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, has consolidated its position in preparation for further expansion. In 2005-2006 Queensland exported 142.86 million tonnes of coal with a gross sales value of A$17.88 Billion.

QMIX will give you a marketing platform in the most centrally located heart of this mining industry. Emerald is geographically located in centre of the Bowen Basin making it a central hub which services more than 32 operational mines in this area.

If you are considering QMIX as a marketing option for accessing the Bowen Basin coal industry please consider the following:

• QMIX is the result of influence from the mining community of the Bowen Basin for an event in the region that services the industry. Ag-Grow has a 19 year old association with the region and is well known and accepted. This history, and the fact that we are local, enable us to have a very "hands on hands" approach to the organising and management of the Ag-grow QMIX field days.

• QMIX is an annual event. It is a section of Ag-Grow Emerald Field Days which is run in the second week of July annually. QMIX was the first and only new section of Ag-Grow to be given it's own identity from the beginning. This is because of feedback from the mining community was there is such a need for an event like QMIX that it may grow too large for Ag-Grow. The single most common comment was that management from the mining community were not attending other mining expos as they are inaccessible to them. In comparison QMIX is located in the "site office" of the Bowen Basin and represents minimal down time for management to visit.

• Management of QMIX have taken considerable time to research and contact key management within the Bowen Basin mining community about issues the industry would like to address and products and services they would like to see at the event. This line of communication has been very valuable in setting the foundations of the event and ensuring we are delivering an event that the parties involved in the mining industry will find useful and effective.

• QMIX will focus on sourcing new technology, products and services available to the industry. When contacting potential exhibiting companies we are conveying our anticipation that they ensure they bring the very latest available for those within the industry to consider. We are also encouraging exhibiting companies to come forward with ideas and requests that allow them to create the best possible environment for them to achieve a positive result. This extends to companies that an exhibitor would like to meet whilst at QMIX and all contributes to creating the best possible environment for a cross pollination of business.

QMIX hosts a Careers in Mining pavilion specifically addressing the problem of a lack of skilled employees available to the industry and the necessary training required. This pavilion is be driven by the HR Departments of local mines and major contractors with additional presence from universities, apprenticeship and labour hire companies. All local high schools and university are notified of this pavilion and encouraged to visit with senior students. There is also a facility for presentations within this pavilion and presentation times will be widely advertised to the general public. For further details please view our Careers at QMIX section.

• Ag-Grow Emerald and QMIX have a combined media campaign starting from March through to the event in July. This campaign is distributed state wide and is conservatively valued at $150,000. Exhibitors and sponsors of the event can be assured that advertising is carried out extensively.

• In addition to this media campaign key management staff from all local mines within the Bowen Basin are invited and issued with VIP passes to ensure they are not inconvenienced in any way when visiting the Ag-grow QMIX field day.

QMIX achieves a gathering of the mining industry that is easily accessible and has an environment conclusive to doing business and networking. Contact us for further information or Book now to secure your position at the coal industry's new dynamic event.
